Protests in Kabul for the killings of civiliansImagine for a moment that after the attack on Berlusconi, the Italian Government has ordered the army to carpet-bomb Cesano Boscone, the village where Massimo Tartaglia, the aggressor, lived. An idea so absurd, mad, which seems just ludicrous to say that. The town of the aggressor in fact has nothing to do with him, has no guilt for his actions. Yet this is the way in which countries reason, when deciding bombings and wars.

Think about Afghanistan, in 2001 and especially today: 8 years ago the country probably hosted Bin Laden and the leadership of Al Qaeda. Helping the opponents of the Taliban, the Northern Alliance, to topple a fundamentalist government was certainly right, but bombing civilians was not. Because Afghan civilians were not to blame for Al Qaeda or terrorism. Today, after years of war, to continue bombing civilians to capture a few dozen Afghan fundamentalists is completely absurd. The folly of this is even more evident if we think about Iraq where is estimated that since 2003 at least 1 million Iraqis have died as a result of war, and today the country is full of terrorists who were not there before. All to kill a dictator and his supporters accused of having weapons of mass destruction that they didn't have and to finance terrorism which they didn't fund.
But then how do you fight terrorism? The answer is obvious, only in recent years, the warmongering propaganda has done everything to make it less clear than it is. To fight terrorism we must work for peace, stop individual terrorists and stop their funding. You fight it hitting the real leaders, not the innocent civilians. Strike at random is monstrously wrong because it does exactly what the terrorists want: fuel hatred and war. It's the same criminal policy that Israel has taken against Palestinians, since some of them engage in terrorism, the Israeli army has decided to bomb Lebanon and Gaza, currently a huge concentration camp.
This reasoning is similar to that of racists. If a Muslim is a terrorist, all Muslims are. If an immigrant is a criminal, all immigrants are. A fallacy, stupid, counterproductive idea.
But in fact the reasoning is typical of those in bad faith and with ulterior motives. We have a striking example in Italy where, after an attack on Berlusconi, the majority, though fortunately hasn't yet resorted to bombings, has launched fierce attacks against the opposition, blaming it for the gesture of a madman who had already been arrested. Criminal responsibility is personal. If it's not upholded this basic principle of reason and legality the door is open to racism, hatred and war. Unfortunately, the truth is that those who do this aren't just stupid, they do it on purpose to exploit the situation to their advantage. Berlusconi loyalists really want to attack the opposition and democracy, and the aggression against the preier was the perfect pretext for continuing their plan. Israel warmongers simply want to exterminate all Palestinians as such, and terrorism is a pretext needed for that purpose. Bush and his fellow oilmen wanted oil from Saddam, and came up with a flood of lies to get it. Above all, there are people who want war. They want war because they profit from the trade and production of weapons or because they derive some other benefit from it.
In the world there is never a conflict between us and them, Muslims and Christians or any other group easily identifiable. There is only one real opposition between those who want war and those who want peace. Those who want war, in any field they are, if left to their own, become the true enemy of all others, who are dragged into their madness and brainwashed by their propaganda. Who wants war if it does not have one will create an enemy to push for the war in every way and then pretends to be the victim. Berlusconi, for example, has always incited hatred against the opposition calling it "left communist" and "communist magistrates", even if in fact his opponents have simply spoke out against his giant conflict of interest and the judges simply did their duty. Today, the stupid act of a madman gives him the perfect excuse to play the victim. The same technique of Ahmadinejad and Khamenei in Iran, who have rigged the elections, kill and arrest opponents and then blame them. The same technique of Hitler, who persecuted the Jews and intended to attack the whole of Europe as he later did, but he said that everyone plotted against Germany.
The year 2009 ends with a failed assassination attempt on a plane and new attacks by the Taliban. In 2010, the likely reaction of the United States will be new bombings in Afghanistan, where today there were 8 other innocent victims, and in Yemen. Even if the only really effective way to combat terrorism would be to decrease the hatred, not increase it, and find the real culprits, not to hit everywhere on suspicions. So we wonder which side is the American President Obama, just awarded the Nobel Peace Prize? Unfortunately, the suspicion is that he is already enrolled in the war party.

Bravo, un post da libro di testo. Se davvero le persone si prendessero 10 minuti al giorno per pensare invece di assorbire notizie preconfezionate, molte cose cambierebbero.
