The government has made amazing promises after the tragedies of Abruzzo and Viareggio. Two very different events. The first an earthquake that has caused 308 deaths and about 65,000 displaced persons. The second a rail disaster that killed 28 people, many of them seriously wounded who died as a result of injuries. For the living concern is needed, for the dead only the truth, wrote the French philosopher Voltaire.
The first task of a government in cases such as these would be to provide for the living, for the relatives of the victims and for those who remained homeless and lost everything. The second task, not least, would be to ascertain the truth. It's very unlikely that the many houses collapsed or damaged in Abruzzo have been constructed in full compliance with the rules. It's more likely that there have been companies that have saved on materials, which have won contracts in an illegal way and doing so caused the deaths of many people. And if their liability is established, they should answer for what they did.
In Viareggio, even if it is a disaster 10 times lower in number of deaths, was an accident caused by man, not nature. And so it's even more likely that there may be specific responsibilities. The reason why is so important to punish those who commit crimes or even simple errors and negligences that may have increased the deaths of these disasters is that it would ensure that similar tragedies do not happen again, or at most are not repeated with such a serious death toll.
But we must remember that we are in Italy, the country where only idiots and unfortunate people pay for their mistakes, while the clever ones always get away with them. This has always happened and will continue as such because the rulers and the powerful of this country, having always had in their hands the control of information, never really had to answer for their actions and omissions in the eyes of the people. And that's what happens in these cases. In Italy no one wants to investigate on years and years of building abuses committed in Abruzzo with the complicity of local governments and with the money of the Mafia. For Viareggio how to think that will be put under investigation the managers of Trenitalia, a railways company with huge ramifications in the public and private sectors and many friends in politics and media.

The dead will never have the truth in a country where there is not really free information outside the net, because no one will investigate the real reasons behind their death.
And about the concern for the living, that is, in these cases, aid to people who have lost everything, they can only hope on the good heart of the government, on the magnanimity of the sovereign, because a government that controls information can do whatever it wants, omit any help and no one will ever tell in the regime televisions. And already you can guess that there have been many failures, the people of Abruzzo and Viareggio protested and talked, but no one has heard on television their reasons. The tragedy happened, all the Italians were moved for a bit, now it is time to forget and think about the next reality show.
Woe to the vanquished, said the celtic king Brennus when he briefly conquered Rome. The meaning of the sentence is that those who lost are at the mercy of their enemy and cannot claim anything, cannot ask anything. The Italians have lost, are at the mercy of a political , economic (and mafia) lobby who has conquered this country, controls information, controls everything and want more control. They can do whatever they want and not have to answer for anything. They can make any promise and break it without fear of consequences. This means controlling the media. Woe to the vanquished. We, the italian people, are the vanquished.
