Blame the comedian

Why Daniele Luttazzi is not on italian TV? a lot of people obviously don't have a show on television, because there aren't millions of people who would like to watch them. Luttazzi instead always got great ratings on tv, yet the Italian television do not offer him a show. The reason is that Luttazzi is a comedian very unliked by italian politicians, because he tells the truth.

And that, in Italy, is bad to those who run television and politics, even if the public would like to see a Luttazzi show. But after leaving Berlusconi's Mediaset in 1998 after a first censorship, in 2001 Luttazzi hosted in his evening show Satyricon, on national tv second channel, the journalist Marco Travaglio, and a few months later there was the famous Bulgarian edict: Biagi, Santoro and Luttazzi ostracized by Italian television on order of the premier Silvio Berlusconi.
The specific fault of Luttazzi was giving space to the book of Travaglio, the Smell of Money, a survey of the origin of the financial fortunes of Berlusconi and the Bank Rasini, where Berlusconi's father worked and which had as clients such as Mafia leaders Riina and Provenzano.

In short, while in other European countries, a successful comedian with a strong audience find easily some tv willing to immediately offer him a show, in Italy is impossible. To demonstrate that even the most trivial freedom and democracy is not respected by the premier and his henchmen.Not even television democracy based on audience on which Berlusconi created his fortune of private networks. But many leaders of the center left are happy this way because they too like censorship. Especially of troublesome voices, and so Luttazzi suffers ostracism on television since 2001, although it is one of the most famous italian comedians. Today, the national tv Rai leadership, composed primarily of servants of the master, is trying to eliminate virtually all the shows and the people that the dictator doesn't like: Marco Travaglio first, and many others.
And the worst part of all this, besides the disgusting cowardice and complicity of the alleged opposition, is the justification that many give to the systematic censorship that television suffers in Italy. "That anchorman / comedian / journalist is biased, he blames only Berlusconi, the public service must be balanced". As if Berlusconi's Mediaset was not biased in favor of the premier in a disgusting way, as if they the first and the second national tv channels were biased when they only broadcast news approved by the dictatorship.
As if that wasn't an absurd justification: who has a strong audience should find space on national or private televisions, simply because a large part of the public appreciates him. If you do not like do not watch. Berlusconi and friends have reported for libel Travaglio, Luttazzi and other several times. And they have always lost. Because the things that were said on television were true.
But in what state is reduced a country where we must defend the most basic concepts of democracy? It's reduced to a dictatorship. Against the undemocratic, unliberal and Stalinist methods of Berlusconi a permanent civil mobilization was needed in 1994, at least in 2001. Instead, the Italian journalists wakes up only today, after libels actions against italian newspapers and bureaucratic obstacles in Rai national tv to all the non-aligned shows. But ultimately we Italians are accustomed to tv censorship: Dario Fo, Nobel Prize for literature, was censored on public television several times under pressure from the Christian Democrats already in the 60s.
